Overview

The Simulation is a 3D adult adventure for players who want mystery layered under a picture-perfect setting. The tone stays curious and a little uneasy, even when things look calm on the surface.

Story

Waking up in a world that seems almost too perfect, the protagonist has no memory of how he got there. Piecing together the truth means searching for clues and getting involved in the lives of the people around him, since their stories may hold the key to what's really going on behind the polished surface.

Gameplay

Players explore the world freely, moving between locations and characters to gather information and build connections. Interactions with NPCs unfold gradually, and the world reacts to conditions like weather, which shifts between clear skies, overcast, rain, and storms as players move through it. Progress comes from investigating the setting and following where each character's story leads.

Features

  • A male protagonist piecing together a mystery from scratch, with no prior context handed to him
  • A sandbox-style world with a shifting weather system that changes the mood of each location
  • Character interactions that develop over time rather than all at once

Installation

1. Extract and run.

Changelog

v0.0.2

Features:

  • Introduction of a dynamic weather system, which currently allows the following conditions:
  • Cloudless
  • Sunny
  • Overcast
  • Rain
  • Storm
  • Rainfall has a slider in the cheat menu so that players can adjust it themselves for better performance.

Scenery:

  • The boat jetty has already been integrated into the beach scenario.

NPC interaction:

  • New Interaction for Christy (Doggy)
  • Major bugfix causing the camera to turn in the wrong direction when talking to NPCs who were not face-to-face. In connection with this bug, many other issues affecting first- and third-person view have also been fixed (including when using objects such as chairs or interacting with Emily).
  • Major bug fix, that preserved the camera angle, when starting interacting with NPCs when switching to a sex interaction. (e.g. Speaking from behind to Emily would result in not looking at her, while BJ)
  • When you talk to NPCs, they now turn towards the player, which somehow seems friendlier (when they are not interacting with stuff like chairs, etc.).
  • Jenna (The free roam lady) can now be asked to follow you. In conjunction with the possibilities of the new dialogue system, she can also be asked to wait at a certain point or to stop following you completely,
  • If you leave an NPC waiting somewhere, it will also turn towards the player. It seemed weird when it didn't do that...
  • Some bugs in the sex interaction with Emily have been removed, so that player and NPC animations were out of sync or completely off.

Addition to the weather/time system:

  • No new commands can be entered while the weather or time is changing. This is also intended to prevent the system from crashing in any way due to massive inputs.
  • However, to let the player know that a change is still in progress, corresponding icons are now displayed in the HUD.

Design changes:

  • Implementation of the new design in many other areas, such as the pause menu, settings, etc..
  • The “Pleasure” overlay now only appears during corresponding interactions and not permanently in the dialogue interface.

AI System:

  • The AI system now allows NPCs to be interrupted by the player and then resume their tasks completely independently once the interaction is over. This is a very important feature that forms the basis for the entire game and a big improvement, even it's barely noticeable in this version.

Code stuff:

  • Worked a lot on scalability of new interactions, dialogue and NPC AI to make future integrations very easy and speed up development

Known bugs:

  • The settings menu does not display the correct values for the sliders until they are changed. (However, the correct values for the settings are active in the game.)
  • In rare cases, the game may crash on the boat dock if the footstep system cannot determine a value. (Very rare)
  • Using the beach mat rotates the camera. This can be reset through sexual interaction

Hiding the HUD can lead to various problems:

  • During sexual interaction, the pleasure meter is permanently hidden for this interaction. It reappears when a new interaction begins.
  • Turning off the HUD during weather or time changes causes the corresponding HUD icon to behave in the opposite manner (e.g., hidden HUD -> weather icon displayed).
  • If you let Jenna follow you and then wait, she may run away. (The previous FreeRoam destination has not been deleted and is still being processed.)
  • When waiting, Jenna currently turns instantly toward the player at fixed intervals. This is currently intentional in order to conserve performance
  • If you use the pause function during Emily's BJ and then click “Faster” or “Slower” more than once, the animations will be out of sync. However, clicking once works
  • In very rare cases, Christy turns toward the player when spoken to. The following interaction is aligned with this and does not take place on the beach mat. The error cannot be fixed within the current session. The game must be restarted
  • At low settings, the ocean foam may appear everywhere and not just on the beach
  • At high settings, there may be some hard edges in the ocean foam. This is due to problems within the engine. Already looking for a solution
